Radiation on the Spot
CyberKnife® – Precise und innovative Robotic Radiosurgery System
The Cyberknife® System is the first and only robotic radiosurgery system to offer highly precise and customizable, non-surgical treatment options for a broad range of tumors anywhere in the body including the prostate, lung, brain, spine, liver, pancreas and kidney.
The InCise™ Multileaf Collimator system, installed in the head of the Cyberknife® System, is for the purpose of shaping prescribed radiation to the tumor, while minimizing dose to the healthy tissue.
The InCise™ Multileaf Collimator system of our customer Accuray (USA) contains several plates (leaves) that are re-positioned in real-time. Therefore the beam is constantly re-shaped to accommodate various geometries as the robot treats often irregularly shaped tumors from several beam angles. Furthermore, clinicians are able to treat tumors which move within the patient accurately and precisely.
Those leaves are supported by myonic miniature deep-groove bearings. The highly precise, free of play positioning of the plates are being implemented by myonic duplex-bearings. This system uniquely enables highly accurate and precise tumor treatments that may otherwise be untreatable by other radiation devices.
