In 2011, we decided to launch the internal strategic project Attractive Employer to actively work on our workplace culture and improve our quality as an employer. Programmes and innovations such as preventive health management, new catering in the canteen, management training, introduction of new communication channels, etc. resulted from the project; new measures are constantly being implemented. Since measurability and benchmark comparison are important to us, we participate in the Great Place to Work(r) competition at regular intervals.
The assessment is based on a detailed anonymous survey of all employees on key workplace issues such as trust, identification, team spirit, professional development, remuneration, health promotion and work-life balance. In addition, the quality of the measures in HR and leadership work is evaluated extensively.
Great Place to Work(r) is an international research and consulting institute that has been helping companies of all sizes and in all sectors in around 50 countries worldwide to develop an employee-oriented workplace culture that promotes success for 25 years. In addition to individual analysis and consulting services for the further development of workplace quality and employer attractiveness, the institute regularly identifies very good employers within the framework of national, regional and sector-specific benchmark surveys and employer competitions and presents them to the public. The German Great Place to Work(r) Institute was founded in 2002 and currently employs around 80 people at its Cologne site. Further information is available at www.greatplacetowork.de.
